Woodlands School, Where Every Child Grows
Nestled in a beautiful wooded area, and in shared grounds with Currie Community High School, Woodlands School has provided specialist education since 2008 for secondary-aged learners with diverse learning disabilities. With small classes, dedicated support, and a purpose-built setting, it’s a place where every young person is encouraged to thrive.
Friends of Woodlands, a fundraising group for the school, applied to the Cameron Toll Community Fund to support its efforts to raise money for playground, outdoor sensory equipment, including special tricycles or tandem bikes for the children to use.
Ceri Robertson from Friends of Woodlands said: “Woodlands School is a very special place. The children who attend it, including my son, have additional support needs and sensory equipment brings many benefits and fun to them. It is described as ‘Theraplay’ and allows them to have similar experiences to those that other children enjoy. The donation to our charity fundraiser from the Cameron Toll Community Fund will help us towards our aims.”
Claire Jefcoate, centre manager at Cameron Toll said: “Woodlands School is well known for providing a wonderful learning environment for children with additional support needs. We’re delighted to be providing some support, through our Community Fund, to the Friends of Woodlands’ fundraising efforts.”
