Women’s Cricket Team Having A Ball

Encouraging women and girls to have fun playing cricket while making friends and keeping active is at the heart of the Edinburgh South Cricket Club’s women’s section. Like many sports, playing through the cold winter period presents its challenges and practice often moves indoor whenever possible.

To keep their skill and fitness levels up the Edinburgh South Cricket Club’s women’s section applied to the Cameron Toll Community Fund for assistance to fund indoor training sessions that allowed them to practice hardball cricket by using indoor nets. As existing sponsors of the team strips, the Fund was happy to contribute to the indoor training sessions to keep skill levels high and to ensure that when the outdoor games begin the team is in top form.

Sian Kiely from Edinburgh South Women’s Cricket said: “The women’s team section welcomes players of all abilities and ages. Keeping training going through the winter months is a challenge but with this funding we can access indoor facilities which will make a big difference.”

Claire Jefcoate, centre manager at Cameron Toll said: “We support many sports teams that play at Inch Park and we’re delighted to continue that support for Sian and the whole team.”
