Tiny Playground Gets A Big Makeover

Preston Street Primary School is all smiles after transforming its famously tiny playground – which is one of the smallest in Europe – with vibrant new markings for the pupils to enjoy!

Thanks to funding from the Cameron Toll Community Fund, the school has made every centimetre of its outdoor space count, turning it into a colourful, interactive area where children can stay active, build confidence, and make friends.

Emma Weale, Co-Chair of the Parent Council said: “In a diverse, inclusive community like Preston Street Primary, playtime helps break down language barriers and brings everyone together.  The new markings include creative hopscotch trails, energetic circuits, and other playful designs that offer structure for physical activity and encourage children to move more which are vital for both their physical and emotional wellbeing.  The funding from the Cameron Toll Community Fund has played a big part in bringing new life to the playground.”

Claire Jefcoate, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll, added: “Seeing the children’s excitement and enjoyment in action was lovely to see. Knowing that the space will benefit the pupils and make playtime, a very important part of the day, more fun is wonderful.”
