School Scores Funding Boost For Rugby Coaching Sessions

St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church School has received £360 from the Cameron Toll Community Fund to support new rugby coaching sessions for its pupils.

Based in Newington, St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church School is a small independent primary that combines academic excellence with strong moral and spiritual development with physical education playing an important role in the school’s curriculum.

Funding from the Cameron Toll Community Fund will enable the school to bring in a specialist rugby coach to deliver a series of fun and supportive sessions, giving pupils the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and experience a sport that many may not otherwise have the chance to access.

Ioana Staicu from St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church School said: “Physical activity is an important part of our curriculum and contributes significantly to our pupils’ wellbeing and development. This funding will allow us to introduce rugby coaching sessions that will provide new opportunities for our pupils and help ensure that cost is not a barrier to taking part in sport. We are very grateful to the Cameron Toll Community Fund for its support.”

Claire Jefcote, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll, said: “St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church School is committed to providing enriching experiences that support the development and wellbeing of its pupils. We are delighted to support these rugby coaching sessions and help create opportunities for children to learn new skills, stay active and enjoy the benefits of sport.”
