New Badges for Dalkeith Brownies
Having fun and playing games, making friends, and taking part in a wide range of skill-based activities is what being a member of the Brownies is all about.
When the 2nd Dalkeith Brownies got in touch with our Community Fund looking for support to help buy a range of new skills builder badges we were delighted to help out.
With themes such as camping, communication and first aid as well as various home-based skills where badges can be earned there’s lots of new skills that will be rewarded with a special badge.
Vicky Featherstonehaugh from the 2nd Dalkeith Brownies said: “Brownies have such a lot of fun with their friends and badges play a very important role. It gives each girl a real sense of accomplishment and encourages them to learn new skills either as a group or as an individual. The funding from the Cameron Toll Community Fund allows us to buy a range of badges that our Brownies can work towards achieving.”
Claire Jefcoate, centre manager at Cameron Toll said: “Learning new skills at a young age is so important and being able to assist with funding new badges to encourage the 2nd Dalkeith Brownies is a pleasure to do.”

Girlguiding Scotland is Scotland’s largest youth organisation dedicated completely to girls, with around 43,000 young members and recognised volunteers. Girls can do anything. We help them know that, whether they’re 4 or 18 or in between. All girls have a home at Girlguiding Scotland – whoever they are, and wherever they are. We show them a world of possibilities, big and small. We help them think big and be bold in a space where they can be themselves, get creative, explore, and have fun. We’re a powerful collective voice – with girls, led by girls – changing the world for the better.
We’re 34,000 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, who come together to laugh, learn, explore and have adventures, in communities across Scotland and virtually. We’re over 9,000 volunteers who make guiding happen by giving time, talent and enthusiasm.
