Kitted Out And Ready To Kick On

Local U16 girls’ football team Edinburgh Panthers has been awarded £500 to purchase new playing strips for its squad.

Based at Inch Community Sports Club, next door to Cameron Toll, the team provides a safe and supportive environment where 20 young players come together twice a week for training and compete in weekend matches. As a non-profit club serving an area of high deprivation, the team relies on funding and community support to ensure football remains accessible to all.

The funding will provide brand-new kits for the players, helping to remove financial barriers and ensure every girl can take to the pitch with pride. Beyond football, being part of the team offers valuable opportunities to build confidence, make friendships, improve physical health, and develop teamwork and life skills in a positive environment.

Karis Ferguson from Edinburgh Panthers said: “This funding will make a huge difference to our players and their families. The new kits create a real sense of belonging and ensure every girl feels part of the team, allowing us to continue providing a safe, supportive space where they can stay active and develop both on and off the pitch.”

Claire Jefcote, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll, said: “We’re delighted to support Edinburgh Panthers and the fantastic work they do for young women in the local community. Sport has the power to build confidence, encourage healthy lifestyles and create lasting friendships, and we’re proud that the Cameron Toll Community Fund can help ensure these opportunities remain accessible to everyone.”
