Kitted Out and Kicking On!

A passion for football and a commitment to inclusion have helped the Edinburgh South CFC’s Recreational Ladies team grow from strength to strength.

Introduced three years ago, the team training sessions welcomes more than 30 women who enjoy football in a fun, supportive and respectful environment. The weekly sessions are completely free and are led by a dedicated volunteer coach who also manages the club’s women’s first team.

Tracy Thomson from Edinburgh South CFC’s Recreational Ladies said: “The group continues to go from strength to strength, welcoming players of all ages and abilities while promoting teamwork, confidence and personal growth.

“There’s no pressure and no commitment required but everyone who joins stays because it’s about more than football. We’re about empowering women, building confidence and improving physical and mental health.  Our new training hoodies, funded by the Cameron Toll Community Fund, boosts our togetherness and adds more pride to the whole team.”

Claire Jefcoate, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll said: “We’ve sponsored many teams that are part of the Edinburgh South Community Football Club and are happy to support the Recreational Ladies group too. We visited their training session and the feeling of enjoyment and the team bond was lovely to see.”
