Happy Campers Thanks To Cameron Toll Community Fund

Braid District Scout Council has received £250 from the Cameron Toll Community Fund to help purchase new camping equipment for its young members.

Supporting Scouts aged four to 25 across South Edinburgh, Braid District Scout Council provides a wide range of activities that encourage young people to develop skills, build confidence and enjoy the outdoors. Through regular adventures and hands-on learning experiences, the organisation empowers young people to work as a team, embrace new challenges and make a positive contribution to their communities.

The funding will be used to purchase essential camping equipment helping the Scout groups continue to deliver safe, engaging and accessible outdoor experiences. The new equipment will support camping trips and activities that encourage independence, resilience and a lifelong appreciation of nature.

Jonathan Chalmers from Braid District Scout Council said: “Camping is at the heart of the Scouting experience and gives young people the chance to learn practical skills, build friendships and create lasting memories. This funding will help us invest in essential equipment so we can continue offering high-quality outdoor adventures to our members for years to come.”

Claire Jefcote, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll, said: “We’re delighted to support Braid District Scout Council and the fantastic opportunities it provides for young people across South Edinburgh. Investing in equipment that enables outdoor learning and adventure helps inspire confidence, teamwork and resilience, and we’re proud that the Cameron Toll Community Fund can play a part in making these experiences possible.”
