Community Fund Sets Local Team on Track

Promoting sport and fitness in the local community by developing football skills at grassroots level is a cornerstone of the Castlevale Youth Development Club in south Edinburgh.

The 2017 team is the third group from the Castlevale club to benefit from support from the Cameron Toll Community Fund following the 2012 and 2014 teams.

Claire Jefcoate, centre manager at Cameron Toll said: “The Castlevale teams play just a short distance from Cameron Toll and provide football coaching sessions for children of all ages and all backgrounds no matter what their social circumstance. The 2017s applied to the Community Fund for assistance in buying new tracksuits for the team to wear to and from their training sessions and we’re happy to help.  We know all about the positive impact that playing football can have on children where they get physical activity and make great friends along the way.”

Andy Dailly, head coach said: “We see the sense of fun and enjoyment football brings to all our kids and for those few hours a week we believe brings them a sense of purpose, achievement and at times belonging.  It provides our children with valuable life skills which will serve well them not just at school or within their wider community but also later in life. Having their own team tracksuits brings added pride to the players and a real sense of belonging.
