Community, Coffee & Connections

Warm and friendly spaces where families can regularly meet others from their community play an important role in south Edinburgh.

The King’s Table, at Inch Park Community Sports Centre, is a free play café for parents and their under 5’s run by Edinburgh Vineyard church and is one such place where parents and children can gather with new and old friends and enjoy a coffee and pastry and fresh fruit every Sunday morning. Providing this free service to local families needs donations to ensure the service continues to run so King’s Table applied to the Cameron Toll Community Fund for financial support.

Kate Newman from King’s Table said: “Places to take children can be expensive so we provide a safe and welcoming space for families to pop in every Sunday morning and meet friendly faces and spend time with others from the local community. We put on coffee, pastries and fruit for free so the funding from the Community Fund will make a welcome contribution to our costs.”

Claire Jefcoate, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll said: “We know that times are still very tough for many families and having a place that they can visit and meet friendly faces has a very positive impact. We’re pleased that the Community Fund is able  to help King’s Table make families’ visits welcoming.”
