Books Boost For Liberton Primary

Adding new books to the school library was key for the “Libby Leaders” – a group of P4 to P7 pupils at Liberton Primary – so they made an application the Cameron Toll Community Fund to help them achieve their aims.

Following a similar donation made by the Community Fund in 2023, which supported the school’s efforts to raise attainment in literacy by improving the quality of reading materials in the school’s library, we were delighted to continue supporting the pupils’ ambitions.

The donation of £500 worth of book vouchers, and some expert assistance and advice from the brilliant staff at Waterstones in Cameron Toll, saw the pupils choose a wide selection of new books and graphic novels to boost the range of books in the school library.

Claire Jefcoate, Centre Manager at Cameron Toll, said: “Liberton Primary is our neighbour and just a few minutes walk from the centre. The ‘Libby Leaders’ are such an impressive group of young people who are very ambitious to keep improving the school library by increasing the range of books available to all of their fellow pupils. We’re delighted to be able to help them and, with the help of the staff at Waterstones, the school now has many more books to enjoy.”
